Toonstruck Emulator
How to get the game based on Mac, MS-Dos, Win 3.1 =Toonstruck 1997= to run on Windows XP/32bits. Over ScummVM 1.4.1 (emulator)?? I tried to use dosbox for Toonstruck under windows xp. I ran it on an athlon 64 3700 and it was choppy. So, I decided to find the best compatible hardware for running w98 and w95 games.
When the movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit? Came out, people were amazed at how well live action and animation could be combined. The game ToonStruck uses this combination to tell the story of Drew Blanc, (coincidentally Christopher Lloyd from Roger Rabbit), an overworked cartoonist in need of a vacation. While he is working late one night, Drew gets zapped into his own creation, the cutesy, seemingly happy world of Cutopia. As Blanc, you, upon arriving, are greeted by one of your own creations named Flux Wildly, a wise cracking cartoon character who tags along on your journey and lends a hand from time to time. The way these two characters interact is enough to justify playing the game. In fact, from the very first screen of ToonStruck, the jokes and wisecracks are funny and rarely let up throughout the entire adventure.Though it seems more along the lines of a kid-oriented game, the incredibly talented writers have written in some characters that will crack up the adults (some, actually, that should only be viewed by adults).
Leather-bound (pun intended) cattle in an S&M barn, a cross-dressing Care-Crow and a psychotic, helium-sniffing clown are just a few of the strange and silly characters. The animation in ToonStruck is top-notch and the story is excellent (complete with a surprise twist that is absolutely hilarious). Additionally, all of the acting and vocal talents are great, especially Christopher Lloyd. Because of his wacky humor and acting style, he was an obvious choice for the role.
The puzzles are blended perfectly with gameplay and have great balance. Some are easier to solve while some are so bizarre they'll require a truly twisted mind to solve. Not only is this game fun and challenging but it is also an engaging movie-cartoon with a rich storyline and entertaining characters. ToonStruck is definitely worth the price of admission.Graphics: Great combination: live action and animation.Sound: Sound effects and music are fitting for a cartoon-like world.Enjoyment: Absolutely hilarious.Replay Value: Same story, same jokes but still funny during replay.Toonstruck is a point-and-click adventure in the style of Monkey Island. It uses a one-icon system, and the protagonist is a motion-captured actor against an animated environment.Like an adventure game in the Roger Rabbit style. Drew Blanc, the main character, is played by Christopher Lloyd, whom you may know as the professor in Back to the Future and Fester in The Addams Family movies.
