I’m someone who is planning for playing Mary Skelter 2 for the Nintendo Switch, though this will be my first time playing the Mary Skelter title.I watched people play the first game for PS Vita on YouTube, but I learnt that changing the Blood Maiden’s jobs also changes their sprites during story dialogue, and I would prefer to keep them in their default jobs.I know about the benefits of changing jobs for the Blood Maidens.

So what I’m attempting is to play through Mary Skelter 2 and the Mary Skelter: Nightmares remake following the full immersion guide of the Redditor who’s username is ZekiraDrake (sorry if I offended you), but I will only access the other jobs for benefits such as their skills, and only set the default jobs for everyone (e.g. Otsuu’s default job is Altair, and I will not change out of that).I’m also wondering about playing the game on Fear difficulty for the EXP up, even though I never touched the game before. And if I feel like I want to challenge myself further once I start playing, I’ll probably allow myself to add equip only weapons that match the Blood Maiden’s default job sprite (e.g. Otsuu’s default job is Altair, so she can only equip swords to match her job sprite).I know what I’m doing is quite dumb (and potentially suicidal), especially for a player who’s never experienced the game firsthand. But on a sidenote, this “challenge” run feels more like adding on to how I go about playing and attempting to reach the true ending. I’m still a little hesitant about this working, which is why I decided to write this surprisingly long post.Apologies to anyone who read this the whole way for taking up your time, and be sure to enjoy your own ways of playing though Mary Skelter 2 and Mary Skelter: Nightmares remake for Nintendo Switch.

EDIT: I'm a complete idiot and when I wrote this I forgot that it's only passives that you don't get access to in 1. Active Skills can still be equipped off-job.It's much easier in 2 since, from what I remember, the only thing the Specialty tab does in skills is reduce SP cost, not effectiveness.

So staying in your preferred class by looks will mostly impact your stats rather than skill use. You can definitely play it like that. However when you get to Mary Skelter 1 remake, you once again can't use EDIT: PASSIVE skills from other classes. So the powercreep will still be pretty bad once you get there. You can probably complete this challenge both in 1 and 2 in Normal, but I'm not sure about completing this in Fear, especially in 1. The true end final boss in 2 in Fear is almost like a post-game final boss, and even a full team of Level 99s will struggle with it.

In 1, taking on the very last post-game boss in Fear would probably be near impossible really really hard, as even min-maxed parties can get AoE one-shotted by the final boss without preparation. If you do decide to do this challenge in Fear though, can you record the last dungeon boss fights? I wanna see how you'll pull it off.As for some tips. For 2, there are a bunch of characters that you can definitely keep with their default classes as long as you have the skills from other classes. Tsuu, Mermaid, Hameln have default classes with appropriate stats, Gretel's default only has a weakness in defense but she still possesses one of the best Blood Soul skills in 2, Cinderella is also good by virtue of the entire Fighter class being too good outside of Paladin + she forms the complete heal Blood Soul duo with Gretel.

Red Riding Hood also defaults to Libero which is the most mileage you'll get out of the Libero class this time, though just watch for your SP consumption since most of the good Libero skills are heavy SP use and Libero have low SP. Both Archers can still probably get by as long as you give them Random Rush. For 1, this is going to be much harder. You definitely want Cinderella for access to Rage Rush, and I think Force Wave or some similar AoE is also part of the Marshall job. Sleeping Beauty will gain access to Amber Red via default Archer class I believe.

Gretel gets access to Living Dictionary which has some of the best support skills late game, just be careful of her low defenses. Aside from that though, you might have a hard time without access to some of the other jobs' good skills, such as Blood Witch's Flame Pillar and the water aoe which name I forgot, Poet's EX Healia. Oh wait I think Snow White's Scientist at least has access to Healia. Fairy's Slow Action debuff,For 1, as long as you can manage missing out on the Blood Witch passives for the mages, you should be able to handle yourself.

You also won't be able to rely on good support passives from the Item Master and Logicalist, meaning no increased drop rate and jail bonus boosts. Keep the item that lets you escape 100% in handy, because you'll be using it a lot for some of the titan bosses. I managed to get to chapter 2, though I stopped the moment I unlocked the Hameln Liberated District cause, I got the game late and was playing in night.Anyways, I’m currently during my “challenge run” on Fear though I’m still debating about adding the weapon rule, but it’s likely (I can’t figure out if Mermaid’s Therapist spite is using a staff or spear).Honestly, other than not being used to the controls and messing up one time while looking through the skill menu, I’m was fine for the most part.

Till the Nightmare showed up. I realised I am terrible at walking around the dungeon, barely avoiding damaging trap tiles and almost getting caught by the Nightmare in the prologue even when the game gave me a good head-start. Things are not looking to well, so I think I may need to use the free DLC items to support me early on.Also about the final bosses, I kind of have an idea that may work but I’m not sure yet. Here’s the plan, Blood De-evolution Level 80, and the Bad Ending bosses:- First thing I’m going to do, once a Blood Maiden is at an appropriate level, I’ll perform the max Blood De-evolution of 80 levels, cause the website says they will benefit from bonus CP and stats. I’m not sure since I just started the game with terrible results in learning controls, but I’m prepared to do this once for every Blood Maiden if necessary and grind them back up. And if it’s still not enough, I’ll do this again with either 80 or 65 levels.- After having everyone Blood De-evolution at least once and grind back up their levels, the next thing I’m aiming for is the bad ending. I believe both games having a certain point in the story that determines whether you go down the true ending or bad ending.

I’ll intentionally aim for the bad ending first, and try to win it with Gretel and/or Snow White in the party. This is because of the Mimic class able to learn abilities from enemies, so I wondered whether they can copy the abilities of the bad ending bosses and I can use said abilities against the true ending boss. Even if this part doesn’t work, I think the experience carries over at the least and I can get the immersion of the bad endings while I’m at it.Again, sorry for a long post taking up your time if you read this the whole way. Enjoy both Mary Skelter 2 and Nightmares remake for Nintendo Switch. And hope for the best I get used to the controls.EDIT: Sorry ZekiraDrake, I don’t record videos like you do. Also I don’t know how to record stuff on the Nintendo Switch anyways.

Clear chapter 2 with this run, specifically killing the Aquarium Ruins Nightmare and getting a few rescue centre quest done. While I did do the “challenge run” on Fear, I dropped the weapon rule cause I needed better equipment. I will try to go back to this rule at least before I reach the true ending, but that may depend if I get lucky with the wandering merchant or blood flowers first.SPOILERS AHEADAlso, I could be wrong about this, but I looked at TV Tropes for Mary Skelter: Nightmares since there was a lack of a wiki or something similar and I wanted to see if there was stuff I missed or didn’t notice. It’s also the reason I learnt that Mary Skelter 2 existed. In Japanese only. Not knowing that there would be a English release later down the year, I actually remembered when I looked through some of the spoilers.

But I still don’t get the whole story, since they poked here and there.! I looked again at the spoilers, and if we go by what they mention, Little Mermaid’s weapon for this “challenge run” could (surprisingly) be a microphone.

This is based on a spoiler saying that a microphone she liked singing with was brought over to from Mary Skelter 2 to the Mary Skelter: Nightmares remake, but I don’t how this works and this could be entirely wrong on my part.!
