Missile boating. But that wasn't the question. The question was for the best LRM boats. And then it becomes a question of which mechs are quirked and have the mobility to position themselves properly. But that wasn't the question. The question was for the best LRM boats. And then it becomes a question of which mechs are quirked and have the mobility to position themselves properly. We just disagree on what constitutes best. You argue that it's only the best if the numbers looks good, i would argue that is being subjective. You are predefining the best of anything by stats, experience tells me that stats are extremely subjective because they dont mean anything without interpretation. I choose to define 'best' in a game as that which provides me with the most fun, since that is why i play the game, to have fun. You define best your way, i'll define it mine, both are subjective because you cannot have any opinion which is not subjective.
It can be based on objective data but the opinion is still subjective. Doubly so in this case, since the stats of a mech really have very little to do with how it performs on the battlefield, that's almost completely on you, not the mech. But I'm positive that he agrees with Ishans definition of best. Originally posted by:both are subjective because you cannot have any opinion which is not subjective. There is nothing subjective about my 'definition'.
That was the entire point of my last post. OP asked the equivalent of 'What is the fastest car'. I proceeded to tell him a bunch of racing cars, you then came in and tried to tell him that your VW Golf is the fastest car, because you like to travel only in the city, and hardly ever get to use speeds beyond 100 kph anyway. There is nothing subjective about saying that a Ferrari is a faster car than a VW Golf.I made no qualitative statement on how fun it was to play 'the best' mech. I made an objective statement that a Mech with a LRM15 that has a -25% cooldown quirk on LRM15 is factually better than a Mech without such a quirk. He wants to Lob LRM at the enemy. And in that case the Archer 2R, with its -15% lrm cool down, -5% missile heat and +10% Missile velocity is better at lobbing LRM at the enemy than the 5W with its +10 Missile velocity.
Both are likely only fitted with Dual LRM15 or LRM20 and a bunch of sidearmament, which is immaterial when it comes to the question of 'which mech is better at lobbing LRM at the enemy'.Which is also why i listed the Awesome 8R and not the Mauler 1R, because the Awesome 8R does Quad LRM15 with a -20% cooldown, while the Mauler 1R only has -10% cooldown, the same amount the Awesome 8R has for all other LRM types besides the 15.There is nothing subjective about any of this. A 20% cool down quirk is better than a 10% one. It also doesn't invalidate anyones decision to use the Mauler 1R as LRM boat. Its just not the best at doing so. Doesn't mean you can't be successful with it or have your fun with it. Its just that the Awesome 8R does it 10% better.Likewise, unless you go Quad LRM15.
You are likely finding no difference between lobbing LRM in a medium than in an Assault in terms of lobbing LRMs at something. A dual LRM15 or LRM20 armament is a dual LRM20 armament.
Which is why using Light and Medium Mechs is preferable, due to their higher mobility, usually higher quirks and because it means your team still has room for a Meatshield or Brawling Assault or Heavy. Again, nothing subjective about this.
