MOTHER at the time was a pretty major milestone for Nintendo of America, according to The Cutting Room Floor. Originally the game was labeled as Earth Bound (yes, with a space), rather than the title we now know as EarthBound Beginnings. As intended, the game was made with several life-changing improvements compared to the original for the Western market. Of course, at the time, the Western audience wasn’t too keen on role-playing adventure games, much unlike Japan. Most of these changes were adding a run button and expanding the ending of the story which was originally abrupt.
